The Bible - Questions

Various

Questions

Here are some questions that have arisen from this study, the first set are just the question itself, the second set are given with some theory from the Bible.

  • What does glory and recompense received from God look like, when it is as a reward for enduring suffering and following the written word?
  • Why turn away from someone who gave you everything? What is there in the human psyche to have everything, and then ruin it or throw it away?
  • Why did God create us and the earth?
  • God worries a lot about people following other gods. Why does he not just let them be and focus on the many that do follow him?
  • Man was supposed to be made in God’s image, but is it possible this went deeper, and humans actually reflect his behaviour and emotions as well?
  • God could easily do everything himself, but he always commands the humans to do it. Why do you think that is?

Questions with theory

  • Who really creates the “good world”? Is it God who creates everything, physically and environmentally, or is it up to people to behave and make good choices. God cannot force His will on anyone and a peaceful world only works with co-operation. Is it fair to say God fabricates, and people create?
  • God often says that the people have forgotten him, but have they forgotten him or simply chosen something else?
  • In Jeremiah, a very good question is raised, why do the treacherous prosper? It seems, the worse you are, the more power you have (Jeremiah 12:1).
  • When God says, “obey my voice” (Jeremiah 7:23), He asks for extremely specific and demanding things. Is this perhaps why people turned to other gods, what were other religions asking for from their followers?
  • In Matthew it reads: “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted” (Matthew 15:13), which refers to other religions outside of Christianity. The question is, how much of life as we know it would be left nowadays?
